Several terminals, including the Samsung Galaxy S5 (see our detailed Samsung Galaxy S5 test), the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or the Sony Xperia Z2, used to shoot in 4K. However, “shoot in 4K” does not seem to be an adequate expression to the extent they are not able to record more than 5 minutes of images .

So Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and S5 are limited to 5 minutes video 4k their photo application, the Xperia Z2 (find our full review of the Sony Xperia Z2) has no apparent limit and yet, it is not capable of exceeding (about) 5 minutes of recording. The reason for this is actually quite simple.
