You may have noticed or not, but we have very little about the Galaxy S5 PCWorld.fr, because we felt that the billions of news and rumors about her appearing for several weeks would have tendency to “spam” the wire news site. So, a few days before his announcement, we prefer to quietly take stock of what we know, or guess, about it, trying to sort out the likely very fantasized …

next flagship Samsung, or “flagship” as they say in the Anglo-Saxon, smartphone will be officially unveiled on February 24 at 20h at the end of the first day of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Korean firm has very little press about it and was merely for a handful of teasers time, including a video thirty seconds suggesting that the device would be like the Xperia Z Sony, resistant to water and sand …

Another hint that leaves this time point to a redesign of the interface of the device: an image announcing the conference next Monday letting appear icons of a new kind, far from the current design (and aging ) TouchWiz.

For the rest, we will have to rely on many rumors and corridors, so some are more credible than others. Thus, there is little doubt that the Galaxy S5 will be available in two versions again: one equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and the other with a Exynos SoC eight cores. The latter could also be original and be the first 64-bit processor firm. As for the Galaxy S4, both versions should be identified according to each sales territory and it is likely that Europe has right at 800 Snapdragon.

2K … Is this reasonable?

The other big question concerns of course the screen of the Galaxy S5 and, again, it may be that we have more or less choice. It is very probable that the “premium” version of the device gets a slab of 5.2” (equivalent to the LG G2) or AMOLED, either PLS LCD display and a definition of 2560×1440 pixels. Unheard of smartphone amount, and thus reach a pixel density greater than 500 dpi. A second model of the device, cheaper, would meanwhile with a slab 5.2” 1080p. Both screens can be designed by Sharp, Samsung company in which a stake of 3%.

You have probably understood, it is quite possible that Samsung Galaxy S5 offers two, allowing the company to cover a wider budget range. Just like Apple with its iPhone 5S and 5C, there would thus be entitled to a smartphone “premium” design, which would leave the plastic at the back for stainless steel and other closer to the Galaxy S4 sold a hundred euros cheaper. This second model that could be equipped with a 1080p screen. Again, note that nothing is certain and it is possible that Samsung has only one full S5 sold pot, but with 2K screen and designed with high quality materials.

We talk indeed a 16-megapixel sensor capable of shooting 4K at 30 frames per second and 1080p at 60 frames per second. Finally, the radius of information to be largely conditional, also note the presence of a fingerprint sensor, a feature increasingly popular among manufacturers since the arrival of the iPhone 5S. It is located directly on the screen of the Galaxy S5 and it would be enough to drag the correct finger on the slab to unlock everything.

Here, in outline, all that is known or assumed about the Galaxy S5. If all this is confirmed Monday night, so we will have again a very quality product and probably very attractive. Still, the really innovative features seem pretty few and mostly we hope that the TouchWiz interface will enjoy the benefits of Android 4.4 to modernize. The placing on the market – or – product may in turn take place in mid-March, much earlier in the year that the Galaxy SIII and S4, respectively, which was released in May 2012 and April 2013

Anyway, appointment is made in three days in Barcelona where, between two tapas, we hope to share our impressions of the next high-end smartphone from Samsung.
