The new high-end smartphone from Samsung arrived in writing and we can already deliver our report on its display Super AMOLED high definition. As promised by the Korean manufacturer, the panel is to match those of the Galaxy and Galaxy S6 S6 edge.
Freshly formalized and when pre-orders open this Friday 21 August, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge + (available from 799 €) arrives in writing to undergo all our battery of tests. Before the publication of its next comprehensive test, let’s look at its touch screen Super AMOLED 5.7 inch curved WQHD (2560 x 1440 px for a diagonal of 14.5 cm). If you followed our testing Galaxy S6 / S6 edge, then you know they represent, to date, the best displays of the mobile market. During his presentation of the S6 + edge, Samsung boasted to have continued on the same path. Well this is the case, since the screen of the Galaxy S6 + edge also shows excellent than that of his predecessors.
AMOLED technology requires, the Samsung Galaxy S6 + edge has an infinite contrast and black abyssal. Add to this a maximum brightness of 515 cd / m² in manual mode, against 576 cd / m² for GS6 edge … but, like the latter, it explodes its ceiling in automatic mode, with 675 cd / m²! What ensure full clarity on all occasions, both indoors and outdoors.
If you are a regular middle Samsung smartphones and high-end, you probably know the display modes. Korean brand indeed offers different modes that can automatically play on color temperature, reproduction fidelity, etc. Here they are 4 in number: Adaptive, Cinema, Photo and Basic. And as so often in recent months on Galaxy products, forget the first three to focus on the Basic mode, the only one able to offer an exceptional image. In this mode, colorimetry is placed right between those of the S6 and S6 edge, with an average Delta E of 1.5. Resulting in the most accurate colors ever seen on a mobile screen (excluding S6 edge to 1.4 pinaillons …), with an almost perfect balance. Note that with the Basic mode, white becomes slightly “hot”, without yellowing, but all the other modes too denature (white while pulling blue or yellow / sepia ostensible).
The color temperature is slightly higher than that, at a dust perfection of GS6 Edge (6578 K), with 6683 K, but remains one of the best of the circuit and uniform across the spectrum. Same for gamma, with an average score of 2.1 who misses very little faultless (2.2) due to a very slight drop in the lighter tones, but at negligible levels so that this has no impact on the different contrasts of the display and its sources.
For your reference and comparison, the Cinema mode detonated the colorimeter with a totally crazy and made a average delta E than 8, a gamma and a completely distorted picture nervously bluish. Still mode and Adaptive are more balanced, but remain well behind the Basic mode in the color rendering in fidelity as temperature.
side responsiveness of the panel, Samsung is still growing from a small notch from 34 ms touch late March on the S6 edge 31 ms only this GS6 + edge. The best result of the year, period. As for persistence, it is not zero but almost, with 4 ms latency, the same as for the S6 and S6 edge.
That is, finally, reading comfort induced by such a definition screen on a slab of less than 15 cm diagonal, except that the density of pixels it represents, namely 515 dots per inch, associated with an occupancy of 77% of the front surface, gives the display, as for the S6 start of this year, the dummy screen air. Readability is perfect and the feeling of being in front of an electronic panel with two fingers to be absent.
And the screen bends? For the moment, they still seem to play a more aesthetic role as technologically and ergonomically appropriate. The larger screen and more imposing occupation on the terminal area allow, at first, to mitigate the loss of sensation of part of the display that some users could feel before the Galaxy S6 edge. Ultimately, the GS edge + 6 demonstrates once again the expertise of Samsung on the high-end display and a Master increasingly clear and strong in the AMOLED technology.
We give you appointment -you soon for the full review of the Samsung Galaxy S6 + edge.
