Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge: no Snapdragon 820 for Europe – Phonandroid

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will each be offered in two versions equipped with either a 820 Snapdragon processor, or a processor Exynos Octa 8 and at first glance, in Europe, this is not the version Qualcomm to be proposed.

The specialized SamMobile wind site revealed the list of the model numbers of different versions of the Galaxy S7 (SM-G930) and S7 Edge (SM-G935) for the various international operators. A list that confirms that the Snapdragon 820 versions will be reserved for China and the US, as we already have read last month.

As for the models destined for Europe (SM-G930F, SM-G935F), they will obviously powered by the new chip Exynos Octa 8 formalized last week after the Qualcomm conference. A fact quite surprising since until Galaxy Note 4, Europe had always entitled to Qualcomm’s high-end versions of Samsung.

What this choice does risk of impact user experience ? We will win or lose? Despite their differences, the two chips are engraved in 14 nanometers by Samsung. The Exynos Octa 8 promises a power gain of about 30% compared with the Galaxy S6 processor with a 10% increased energy efficiency. For its part, the Snapdragon 820 offers reduced energy consumption by 30% compared to the Snapdragon 810. Either includes a 12/13 4G modem category (600/150 Mbps).

On benchmarks is the Exynos Octa 8 that seems to take the lead, especially on the multi core test Geekbench where he earned 2000 points over his rival. That said, it is important to keep in mind that the chip has eight cores against Samsung quad-core Qualcomm that of where that difference on the benchmarks that does not mean however that the user experience will be of poorer Qualcomm side.
