The range of Galaxy A Samsung we had not really moved in 2015. We reproached globally to these mid-range smartphones to be only beautiful envelopes without true inner beauty. If the 2016 version of the A5 highlights a sleek design – yet most successful thing as last year -, Samsung has decided to offer more than just appearance. Proof of this is its 5.2 inch screen AMOLED slab that makes the climb among the best students of the discipline.
For starters, the Galaxy wins 2016 A5 0.2 inches diagonally, but made the wise choice to pass on a Full HD (1920 x 1080 px). With a resolution of 423 dpi, the display is clear and precise, a difference with the 293 dpi proposed last year, especially on the visible text. The reading experience is more enjoyable. Moreover, the AMOLED technology provides almost infinite contrast ratio, coupled by a maximum brightness of 437 cd / m². In short, even in direct sunlight, the screen remains perfectly legible. Especially as we measured a rate of light reflection of 10%, placing it among the cream of A5 smartphones.

Good treatment of colorimetry remained there until recently the preserve of high-end terminals. Increasingly less upscale smartphones, in 2015, posted very decent results and Galaxy A5 2016 did even better. In short, it comes very close to perfection, with a Delta E measured at 1.9. So this Samsung tu iPhone 6S or other Galaxy S6 in terms of fidelity. We also identified an average temperature of 6900 K, slightly higher than the standard 6500 K: a stable value over the entire grayscale. Caution, however, it should be noted that these results were achieved in the display mode “basic”, the other 3 (adaptive, film and photo) delivering faithful colors much less.

Delta E = 1.9

Finally, the Galaxy 2016 A5 is a little worse in touch delay his ancestor, with 63 ms against 34. Yet it remains in a good average and the difference is negligible in use. The AMOLED also offers another advantage, that of a zero

In our comparative ghosting, the screen of the new A5 Galaxy ranks as the best in AMOLED display and the second -. More 6s behind the iPhone in IPS – all technologies. Note that the order of the first 5 places in our ranking is on tenths of points, all of which are broadly the same level, that is to say close to excellence.

You can find our full review of the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 from Thursday, February 4.
