The Android Samsung Galaxy S5: an overview of the update … – The Digital

A video of the alpha version of Android for Samsung Galaxy The S5 offers a good overview of what will this major update on the flagship smartphone from the Korean manufacturer.

At the last Google I / O, which was held in late June conference, the search giant has not failed to introduce the next major version of its mobile operating system, Android L . Obviously, as after each announcement of this kind, the question was soon to follow was: What are the smartphones and tablets are already available that will be affected by an update? If the information about it are still sparse, it was clear from the outset that all high-end devices released in the past six months should benefit.

Starting with the Samsung Galaxy S5. The site Sam Mobile – well known for its extreme precision leak on firmwares for smartphones from the Korean manufacturer – has managed to get hold of a build L stamped LRW58J Android for the Galaxy S5. But it seems to be an alpha version, by definition far from complete, and has many bugs and slowdowns. So much so that the perpetrators of the leak chose to bend to their ways and do not propose to download this firmware they really felt too unstable for now.

The video at end of article is still interesting because it allows to get an initial idea of what Android L give the Galaxy S5. And specifically on its graphics. Because Google is not going to settle for improving the bowels of its next mobile OS. It will also operate a complete visual overhaul, which will be based on a new graphic called “Material Design”. If you were hoping to find her completely in Android L for S5, it is missed. Samsung has indeed retained much of aesthetics on its user interface TouchWiz, sprinkling still here and there with a few keypresses of Material Design. This is seen especially in the menus and settings that finally rid of the blue theme they wear since the Galaxy S2 and replace it with white. Other improvements promised by this update, there are also self (Project Volta), performance (ART), better support for joysticks, support for OpenGL ES 3.1, the Bluetooth 4.1 an enhanced lock screen, etc..

For the rest, it will probably wait at least until the end of the year to see land the final version of Android on the Galaxy L S5. Some sources even mention availability in the month of November. But nothing is confirmed yet.
