Samsung Galaxy S6 accused of being too fragile – Boursier.com

(Boursier.com) – Last fall, the new iPhone 6 More Apple had hit the headlines because of its tendency to bend too easily when placed in the pockets of users .. . Six months later, it was the turn of Apple’s competitor, Samsung, to face the same criticisms! Out on Friday in North America, Europe, and Asia, the new smartphone from the South Korean group, the Galaxy Edge S6 is not very strong according to some experts …

Broken from 50 kg of pressure?

The US company SquareTrade, which offers insurance for electronic equipment, has tested the Galaxy Edge S6 and compared it to the iPhone 6 Plus, its most direct competitor . But under pressure of 50 kg, the iPhone 6 Plus is bent without breaking, but the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge saw his screen break, even though both phones were still working.

By increasing the pressure, the technicians found that the Galaxy S6 stopped working beyond 149 pounds (67.5 kg). By comparison, the iPhone 6 More Apple was not working from 179 pounds (81 kg), while the M9 HTC broke the Chinese group from 120 pounds (54.4 kg).

No problem in normal use

Samsung, as Apple before him, quickly responded to these criticisms by publishing its own pressure test and stating that such weights are rarely applied in “normal circumstances” of the phones use. The Korean manufacturer also challenges the choice of SquareTrade taking as reference the pressure on the front of the smartphone rather than the rear parts.

The controversy over this new “bendgate” (from the verb “to bend “= bend) is sure to be relayed by the media and social networks. But experts believe that it will probably not more impact on sales of the Galaxy S6 (which was a great success in the pre-order) as those of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which allowed Apple to view historical records of sales in Q4 2014.
