Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note 3 and Gear: and the ... - The Computer

At a showcase in Paris this morning, Samsung has introduced its new products planned for the end of the year, including its model shows connected, the Galaxy Gear. The presentation was mainly focused on the viability of these new products in business and if the Galaxy Note 3 seems optimized for this type of use, the Galaxy Gear however fails to convince.

If

watches connected intrigue and generate many comments, they still have a lot to prove to themselves indispensable wrist users. You can probably imagine that the general public will be a new client connected device, which has a more extensive media coverage. But now, the watches they have connected their place

Samsung says yes: paired with a smartphone, the Galaxy Gear allows receiving messages or notifications without having to leave his phone, an advantage in meeting or a meeting with a client. This is an argument that discusses the dimensions of the watch (36,8 x56, 6×11, 1mm) make it difficult to forget device, especially if you take a screen look at every 5 minutes read mails. But one can imagine that it may seem quieter and less objectionable to the other party that released his smartphone.

Apart from this advantage, the Galaxy Gear does not yet seem cut out for the corporate world: one can certainly read his emails and make phone calls from her son watch (but do not expect discretion in this case) but the little we could see, no application seems to be directly oriented to the world of business.

Samsung still relies heavily on the development of new applications by third-party software: built-in camera to the Galaxy Gear could thus be used to scan barcodes in logistics operations. But for now, none of this is intended. So better to wait to see the development of applications offer before considering buying a Galaxy Gear.

Galaxy Gear disappoint, but the Galaxy Note 3 defends

Much more convincing, the Galaxy Note 3 also presented for the occasion, however, is appealing. Was able to attend a practical demonstration of the use of the Knox system security solution for mobile. Knox offers the user the ability to switch between two sessions: a private session, encrypted, and you can use a secure manner a number of applications approved by the company, and a classic session on which the user entirely hand and can install the applications of interest.

passage from one to the other sessions is done very simply by clicking on the Knox icon in the application menu. Returning the password, it then faces another session offering the applications installed by the company. The idea behind this solution is to allow both secure smartphone use for tasks relating to the company and a more traditional use to allow the employee to use his cell phone for personal use without the risk to see his personal info land in the data collected by the company.

Knox will be installed automatically on all 3 and Galaxy Note will be compatible with the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition. Samsung is also working on backwards compatibility Knox, but for the moment nothing specific to that side.

Galaxy Note also has interesting features made easily accessible by the Air Command menu, which allows you to quickly switch between different applications using the stylus. Character recognition from notes taken stylus was also improved compared to its predecessor and it is quite possible to design a graphic using only their phone and a pen in hand taking in the data. The phone is currently available for pre-order at a price of 749.90 euros and the first models will be delivered from 25 September.
