Like the Galaxy S5, S7 new Galaxy are waterproof but Samsung did not merely use the same mechanics for that. The microUSB port has been released from its protective hatch, and this is apparently not all.
it’s been almost two weeks since Samsung unveiled its new duo flagships, the Galaxy S7 and Edge declination, but we are probably still far from having pierced the secrets. No doubt that the Korean had to make choices to prevent its presentation takes too long at MWC and so ignored some features. And one of them has just been discovered by a member of the Community buildings XDA .
A moisture sensor for the microUSB port
This is a moisture sensor. No, it is not to further enrich the activity tracking where the analysis of the environment. It is located at the microUSB port. Why ? Just because the Galaxy S7 are waterproof (IP68) but, as with Sony now taking is in direct contact with water for immersion. Water and electrical connections do not mix well, this is a security measure to prevent short circuits when the load.
No charge after swimming!
understand that you will not immediately charge your Galaxy S7 after a swim. Try, and you will apparently show an error message indicating that moisture was detected in the charging port. We must therefore wait for it to dry completely before hoping to revive your precious. Not always practical but it’s still better than grilling foolishly electrical system …
Note, however, that the user at the origin of this discovery still encountered problems with fast charging following the use of smartphone and he could never enjoy it again.
