Started with Samsung Galaxy J1, J3, J5 and J7 (2016) – Frandroid

After launching its Galaxy range J in 2015, Samsung confirmed and signed this year by consolidating this new brand and simplifying (some) its catalog. We had the opportunity to take over the last four representatives as of this line, the Galaxy J1 (2016), J3, J5 (2016) and J7.

Last year, Samsung proposed two J Galaxy smartphones rooted in the entry (on the edge of mid-range), and a multitude of other devices such as the Galaxy Grand Prime example. The Korean manufacturer wants this year to simplify its catalog and thus expands its range Galaxy J, covering the various needs of cheap phones.

within this range, two categories are clearly identifiable, the Galaxy J1 and J3 on the one hand and the Galaxy J5 and J7 of the other. In any case, Samsung wants to bring its expertise and maintains a certain quality. We thus find on each of these devices a Super AMOLED display, compatibility with 4G Class 4, a microSD slot or a removable battery. The usual options of TouchWiz is also part as a shortcut for quick access to the camera in two clicks for example.

Galaxy J5 and J7: one foot in the middle range

the Galaxy J5 and J7 share much in common, starting with their craftsmanship and their positioning affordable midrange. They feature both the same plastic design with metal slices slightly beveled for a nice grip.

In terms of the display, allow a diagonal of 5.2 inches for the first and 5.5 inches for the second, with a 720p HD resolution in one case as in the other. Too bad also for the greater, we would have liked to see in Full HD. Apart from this point to be trivial to some, the two slabs show a good light, especially as they have an “outside” mode which pushes to its limits, the infinite contrasts of the AMOLED and angles exceptional vision.

We also appreciate the presence of beefy processors (quad-core 1.5GHz for the smallest and octo-core 1.6GHz for the other) and coupled with 2GB of RAM, providing a very good fluidity of the interface, even when multiple applications are run simultaneously and that one passes from one to another.

rank details, note that the battery of these devices has been deliberately chosen consequent (3100 mAh and 3300) to provide an impressive battery life for the last Galaxy A5. There is also a 13-megapixel camera with an aperture of f / 1.9 at the back, rather convincing from our first tests, and a module 5 megapixels on the front.

Galaxy J1 and J3: entry suitable range

logically the Galaxy J1 and J3 are less well equipped, with a slightly less quality design, while also nice in hand. The plastic shell is accompanied by a more rounded aluminum frame, comfortable, but not as aesthetic. Their size was also reduced with respective screen sizes of 4.5 and 5 inches WVGA resolution (480 x 800 pixels) HD 720p. If the will to drive prices down is understandable, the output of a WVGA phone in 2016 perplexing.

The performance is also more restricted. With quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 and 1.5 GHz and only 1 to 1.5 GB, the interface shows a lot less fluid than the J5 and J7.

But this difference is also felt on the price, much milder in the case of the two smallest of this new range. Count 159 euros for the Galaxy J1, J3 for 189 euros, 269 euros and 299 euros J5 to J7, all available now.
