Surprise, EA and Lucasfilm have raged against Galaxy in Turmoil, the fan-made remake of fire Battlefront 3. The game finally does not come out on Steam.
Early June Frontwire small studio announced it had reached an agreement with Valve to distribute their free remake of Battlefront 3 named Galaxy in Turmoil. At the time we could be surprised that Disney and EA can let a project that uses the Star Wars , while diverting attention from the disappointing Battlefront Official DICE.
But eventually the two companies responded, and the only surprise was how long it took them to send an injunction to the small company. Indeed it was not until June 22 for a representative of Lucasfilm contact Frontwire to stop the launch. to believe the president of the company, Lucasfilm was open to the possibility of grant a license for Galaxy in Turmoil. However it is on the side of the EA process would have stuck with the company expressed their disinterest let live the small project.
Fair play Frontwire small guys have even raised the possibility of their game behind the paywall EA, but this idea was not to the liking of the publisher. Lucasfilm being bound by an exclusive contract with Electronic Arts they therefore found themselves legally obliged to kill the project. When Frontwire believes to be within the legal framework of the fair use , they nevertheless incur any legal procedures against this injunction , probably avoid a long trial difficult to win.
But the Galaxy in Turmoil project is not dead. the studio confirmed that they will continue to work on the title, and keep all the promised features (64 vs 64, galactic player campaign, massive battles, destruction and heavy ship), by simply removing all references to the Star Wars universe, while keeping the spirit of the license. Which ultimately is not worse. Frontwire therefore plans to launch a crowdfunding for their title, but not before having a playable demo of solo and multi (in the manner of a Shock System). Hopefully they will come to get up, but no doubt they had anticipated this eventuality.
