In use, all high-end smartphones are equal from the standpoint of raw performance. The element of differentiation and excellence now the photo, particularly clearer images in low light conditions. After S7 and more recently the P9, the HTC 10 also supports its marketing pitch on shots.
This is not really since Taiwainaise firm trying for several years to innovate in the photo. After the sensor 4 mpx “UltraPixel” One M7, followed double the One M8 sensor, then came the M9 with a more traditional sensor. Back to basics with the HTC 10 since the firm decided to retry the experience of the Ultra Pixel but this time with 12 mpx. Successful return? Answer in our comparison.
Summary of forces
In detail, the HTC sensor 10 is a definition of 12 mpx, but each pixel measuring 1.55 m. In addition, the sensor opens at f / 1.8 while being stabilized. The firm and explains on its website that the phone is able to capture 136% more light … we do not know, it does not say. So it does not mean much.
The Galaxy S7 his side remains the largest market opening, with f / 1.7 to 12 mpx also. The photosites are however somewhat smaller since they measure 1.4 microns. The sensor is also stabilized. As we know, the P9 has meanwhile allowed two sensors, one of which is for monochrome beautiful black and white. We still have 12 mpx with photosites that measure this time 1.2 .mu.m, the smallest of the three.
As we said in our comparison with the P9, the Samsung phone is currently the market yardstick for photo. How’s HTC facing the master and padawan? It left

Outside the three terminals are doing well. We know it is no longer in those circumstances that the quality differences are marked. Note however that the HTC is a little duller than its competitors. Note also that the 10 HTC is more noisy than its neighbors. This is probably due to the larger photosites, to notice, however we must view the image in full size (visible via the links in images legend), that is rarely done in normal times. This is in our opinion the S7 that doing better, but P9 is frankly not far.
lit Interior

Difficult to separate the indoor participants, they each have their advantages. HTC has a better white balance, but the whole is quite dull. The Galaxy S7 has more color, but draws too much towards red. P9 proposes a better overall picture, although it appear bluish. The assessment of shots will be very subjective.
Twilight

In the darkness, Samsung shows us once its ability to find light where there is none. The software image processing is however very marked in Korean. HTC is certainly darker, but also more natural. P9 is however dropped, too dark. Our preference is here to HTC for its 10 natural look.
With flash

With the flash, rendering three is good. HTC 10 however lacks a little color, as we have seen throughout this test. The Galaxy S7 and P9 are quite close. still preferred the S7 remains more colorful, the saturation limit, but overall better than Huawei. Both terminals are still held once in a handkerchief.
At the restaurant

As a bonus a photo to the restaurant where we unfortunately had no P9 hand. We integrate all the same, because it sums up the problems of HTC 10: too dull photos, with balance slightly hazardous white (for now). If Samsung is sometimes in the opposite extreme, in supersaturating certain colors (such as red) Korean pictures are generally more pleasing. We conclude by saying that HTC 10 is a perfectly capable phone in the photo, placing himself clearly at the top of the list, but it can not match Samsung.
