Comparison: Huawei P9 can he oppose the Samsung Galaxy … – Frandroid

Huawei has just formalized its new flagship, the P9. An upmarket compared to P8 allows Huawei to take a clear position on the high-end market. The opportunity to compare the latest Huawei with the flagship Samsung and LG: the LG Galaxy S7 and G5

Do we prefer to P9 Huawei S7 and Samsung Galaxy LG G5.? All three smartphones are placed on the same segment, high-end, with rates of over 500 euros. It is far from former Huawei that were positioned about the mid-range segment. While waiting to get their hands on the device and test it in all its glory, analyze the data sheets of these three phones for whether Huawei P9 can really be measured, at least on paper, to two high end phones of time .

About 5 inches

in terms of format, three smartphones are exactly on the same segment, as the Huawei P9 incorporates a 5.2 inch screen against 5.1 inches for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and 5.3 inches for the LG G5. Three diagonals are held in a handkerchief and are in the middle of the market for high-end smartphones. We appreciate Huawei retains a distinct range of PHABLET (the famous Huawei Mate) but also integrates high-end components in smartphones to more conventional format.

from aluminum, plastic and glass

in terms of design, the three smartphones are totally different. If Samsung massive use of glass in the rear and aluminum edge, LG has opted for aluminum laminated to the touch while Huawei offers us an attractive aluminum shell in the manner of Mate 8. Again Huawei has successfully updated the design of its products in a few years and P9 is comparable to its competitors.

IPS vs Super AMOLED

in the screen, Huawei uses an IPS panel, like the LG G5. The latter, however, uses the Quantum Dot technology for better color rendering. At Samsung, we remain faithful to the Super AMOLED technology which provides a contrast and color rendering often better than the LCD of the poorly calibrated competition. So we tend to prefer the slab of Galaxy S7 although last year, Huawei had a nice surprise with the mature technology IPS NEO.

Also in the field of display, screen definitions are not similar between the three products. On the one hand, Samsung and LG bet on the qHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), which gives a resolution between 554 and 577 DPI. Huawei, one is a little more conservative with a Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), which gives a very substantial resolution of 424 DPI. Recall that the definition qHD provides little interest on a smartphone screen, except for very specific uses such as virtual reality.

Kirin 955 vs Exynos 8890 vs Snapdragon 820

in terms of performance, the Kirin 955 P9 is a Kirin 950 with operating frequencies revised rise. We were really confident in the Mate 8, and there is a safe bet that the P9 is therefore a small bomb reactivity level. It will therefore not be ashamed to face the Galaxy S7 and LG G5 with their Exynos 8890 and 820 Snapdragon from Qualcomm. We also conducted a comparative performance that placed him 950 Kirin prominently against the Exynos 8890.

Sony and Leica for the photo

Photo enthusiasts will not be disappointed, as the partnership between Leica and Huawei has bear fruit. Photo of the P9 is therefore the result of the relationship between the two companies with two Sony IMX286 sensor 12 megapixel lens designed in collaboration with Leica.

We’ll have to see what happens in practice, but the technology looks interesting, with a sensor dedicated to the capture of the details (in black and white) and the other sensor dedicated to color. Huawei does manage to compete with the Galaxy S7 and G5 are both very good camera phones? He seems to have the weapons, and hope that its software part is neat, especially since the development is hybridized with the use of three technologies. Laser, able to contrast and depth

fingerprint sensors

the radius of security, the three smartphones are about equal, with the presence of a fingerprint sensor. Huawei is going a step further by integrating a 3D fingerprint sensor that analyzes in the footprint in depth. What improve the reliability of fingerprints and to avoid misleading the smartphone with the photo of a footprint

the network is not set aside

Huawei is a telecom specialist with a strong presence in the particular professional field within core networks. Huawei has leveraged this expertise in smartphones with a triple antenna system in P9. The three do not work together, but each can take over the other, to improve connectivity. Wi-Fi, there is a function to automatically connect to the best Wi-Fi network, not based on the signal quality, but the quality of service (throughput, latency, etc.). Samsung has also done well out of the game in Wi-Fi this year with the ability to create a Wi-Fi hotspot to share a wireless connection.

the – value

Finally, the question that ended up angry, price. Huawei P9 costs 50 euros more than its predecessor P8. Still, it remains largely competitive with S7 Galaxy and LG G5 which are both sold from 699 euros. At 150 euros less, Huawei P9 therefore able to offer a quality report. – Better price than the flagship stores of LG and Samsung
