As might be expected after the flood of rumors about her, Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy View. Billed as “the largest mobile Android device on the market” , it is a tablet with a 18.4-inch screen impressive.

For the year-end holidays, so Samsung will market the largest consumer Android tablet ever made. Because this is the screen that characterizes this Galaxy View. On a diagonal of 18.4 inches (46.73 cm), Samsung presents it as a portable screen to the family. A sort of additional screen that can both find their place in a kitchen that resting on a coffee table.
A beautiful beast 2.65 kg
Given the size of the beast, Samsung has worked its design. It is of course for the question of plastic shell and above a crutch that allows you to hold the tablet in two positions. The first position is vertical while the second is more elongated and horizontal. If I believe the first taken in hand, it is not possible to fold this stand or put the tablet completely vertically.

A handle is however present in the stand for carry more easily the tablet. A portable tablet, therefore, not mobile. Side dimensions, Samsung announced a width of 451.8 mm, a height of 275.8 mm and a thickness of 11.9 mm and a weight of 2.65 kg, anyway.

A worrying autonomy
Inside are components at the boundary between the entrance and the middle range. The display includes a slab to begin unknown technology (IPS LCD a priori since it is very unlikely that either of AMOLED) full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels). The resolution is obviously quite low (119.72 ppi), but given the size of the screen, the user is not required to have your nose stuck on it.

The Galaxy View also features a SoC to eight cores running at 1.6 GHz (a Exynos 7580) supported by 2 GB of RAM and 32 or 64GB of internal memory expandable with a microSD card. The tablet also has a front camera of 2.1 MP sensor. The biggest fear regarding hardware View terms of its battery, whose capacity is announced at 5700 mAh. As an indication, the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, the second largest tablet Samsung, boarded a 9500 mAh battery. Autonomy should therefore not be his strong point. Last, Samsung expects to sell 4G versions of the tablet.
A tablet intended primarily to entertainment
Like all Samsung devices, the Galaxy View is installed on Android 5.1 with TouchWiz . Tablet mainly for entertainment, applications will be preinstalled. Android Central, which has been able to approach the tablet during a Samsung event, says Netflix or Chef Collection (a Samsung application of recipes) will be present on the tablet. Software feature: a swipe to the right will provide access to a grid application videos (CNN, Hulu, Twitch and maybe the national channels depending on the country of sale)

Samsung has not disclosed the price of its new tablet. It should however be put on sale by next month at least in the United States and Asia. For the rest of the world, Samsung has not yet communicated its availability
