Samsung Galaxy S6 / S6 edge: 10 million in a month … only? – DigitalVersus

Samsung revealed it had shipped 10 million Galaxy S6 and S6 edge during their first months on the market. These figures roughly correspond to the performances over the same period by the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5. In the absence of progress, one wonders if the manufacturer has to see a glass half full or half empty. . Decryption
clear=”all”/> It has almost become a tradition at Samsung after a small month of commercialization of its latest high-end models – namely the Galaxy S6 / S6 edge -, the Korean manufacturer has announced reaching the milestone of 10 million units delivered to its trading partners. Of necessarily impressive figures on the market for Android smartphones. However, looking more closely, they have nothing of a triumph: the manufacturer has already announced about the same for the Galaxy S4 and S5. However, remember that it is precisely the latter model which signed the decline of the mobile division of Samsung in 2014.

Year by year, the growth in sales of Galaxy S has been constant up Galaxy S4. However, with the S5, Samsung recorded for the first time a settlement. It must be said that this smartphone had received a somewhat mixed critical reception. In the process, the financial results have also declined and, to make matters worse, Apple has experienced unprecedented triumph at the same time with its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. But 2015 is expected to sign the Samsung back to the forefront. Beyond speech for the occasion, the manufacturer has really given the means of its ambitions with the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. These devices are in fact much more mature than their predecessor and have also received a much more enthusiastic reception in the specialized media.

Yet, at the time of the first accounts, the duo S6 / S6 edge failed to do better in terms of units sold. So not valid – for now anyway – reclaiming the discourse of the manufacturer. At best, one can say that he has managed to stem the decline. Why “the best”? Because it is necessary to distinguish between units delivered and units sold. Samsung’s business partners such as operators and distributors have (legitimately) get excited by discovering the S6 and S6 edge in phase advance and pharaonic order quantities. If these quantities are not being filled, the worst case scenario would emerge then for the Korean manufacturer.

We do, however, is not yet there. It was not until the next financial results to start to see more clearly. Also be noted that if 10 million were sold properly delivered, turnover would be better, as the S6 and S6 above the edge are displayed at a price significantly more expensive than the S5 to its output. Samsung could count on fatter margins, which should not be luxury at a time when it faces both competition from Apple on the high end and that of the manufacturers’ low cost “on the entry and midrange.

In the longer term, Samsung has announced plans to sell 70 million of its two new models throughout the year 2015. Obviously, this seems highly ambitious today: to achieve its purpose, the manufacturer should sell nearly 9 million units every month. We know that the first months are when new smartphones sell best. In addition, during the announcement of the device, a representative of the French manufacturer had told us that Samsung does not wish to see the price of its flagship smartphone deteriorate over the months. This no doubt will delight of those who have paid a high price, but could undermine sales in the long term. One of the keys to success will undoubtedly be the Chinese smartphone market, where the manufacturer has seen a dramatic slump in the previous quarter, from first to fourth place.
