Take a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and scale it up. That’s a pretty good presentation of Galaxy S6 + Edge whose 5.7-inch screen is the only real difference from the original smartphone model released last April. The Samsung S6 + Edge take the core configuration of the new Galaxy Note 5 outside the pen. Its uniqueness lies in its screen, the edges are curved backwards, which provides additional display surface.
Like the Galaxy S6, S6 and Edge Note 5, this Galaxy S6 + Edge is made of metal and glass that gives it a very elegant and fine finishing. But this comes at the expense of the removable battery and a micro SD slot for memory card. The Samsung S6 + Edge builds on the success of his little brother. The idea being that a larger model might only appeal to consumers.
However, the Edge + S6 is the fourth model that Samsung released in four months, which could create confusion and dilute sales. A real problem when Samsung is precisely facing a slowdown of its sales in the smartphone market. Moreover, the uniqueness of the Galaxy S6 + Edge comes at a high price as it costs more than the Note 5. The price alone could make it the most popular model even if you are not using S-Pen stylus. At least in countries where it is marketed. This is not the case for France. where only the Galaxy Edge + S6 will be available. Preorders will begin from 21 August at 799 euros for the 32GB version and is available in silver, white, black and gold
Design
If you are familiar with the style of Galaxy Edge S6 and screen bent edges, while the silhouette of Edge S6 + will not surprise you. The glass and the display show the right and left edges are rounded to the back cover. The 5.7 inch screen is readable and usable over its entire surface. Just above is a front camera with a resolution of 5 megapixels and multiple sensors. Below the screen is positioning the home button that incorporates a fingerprint reader. It is framed by two other sensitive buttons: “Previous” and “Recent Apps”. It is possible to launch Google Now still pressing the home button.
On the back of the unit is the 16-megapixel sensor,
flash and a heart rate of players. The camera module
is slightly protruding. A choice from Samsung that settled
for a chassis is very fine.
The other physical buttons and ports Edge + S6 are inserted under metal: the power button / lock on the right, the micro USB port and the headphone jack at the bottom, the left volume button and the SIM card slot on the top. As we have pointed out, the battery is not removable and there is no extension for an external memory card
Curves
The two curved edges of the screen are not only there for the sensational side. With the Galaxy Note Edge and Edge S6, Samsung has had time to test the concept and find a use which is justified with a little Edge S6 + .There now has two side default screens that we activates a swipe gesture. The first is rapid access to 5 favorite contacts where missed calls and SMS displayed. Pressing on a name to call, send an SMS or an email. A second swipe gesture allows access to a shortcut menu that can be customized with favorite applications. It is also possible to configure a news feed to receive alerts and titles in the side. The advantage of this display, all in length, it is used to display more text than the Notification panel.
The system is also more flexible to use because you can choose the layout to the right or left and place the opening tab where you want on the banner. We enjoyed the night clock function that shines discreetly to give the date and time.

With the simultaneous launch of the Edge + S6 and Note 5, we are left with four high-end Samsung models that share more or less the same configuration. Faced with competition
Apple iPhone 6 Plus and LG G4 with its 5.5 inch screen are the two most direct competitors. G4 LG and Samsung Galaxy Edge 6+ shares the same version of Android, a camera and a similar battery. Differ on their processor, their battery (that of the G4 is removable) and the presence or absence of an external memory card slot. As for the iPhone 6 Plus, with its age of one year, it would not be very “right” to compare it to those just out models.
