Lab test – The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016), record holder of autonomy – DigitalVersus

The A5 version of Galaxy 2016 is not really the most anticipated smartphone from Samsung this year. We dévoilions you with its excellent screen measures just a few days. The Galaxy A5 does not stop at that and became the most autonomous of our smartphone comparison, and it far … even from far away.

Autonomy is regularly in the top 3 consumer expectations. Yet it seems to be changing very little, at least, not in a good way. The cause of ever finer batteries dwindling and energy needs ever larger smartphones. The few terminals to truly take their game are choosing colossal batteries – coupled with the giant sizes (Huawei Mate 7) – or are deadlocked on performance to maximize endurance (Acer Liquid Z630) <. p> Of course, one can not describe the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) small smartphone with 5.2-inch format. However, we remain in an acceptable average, especially since it contains in 7.3 mm thick. Its technical specifications are not anemic: Full HD screen, Exynos SoC 7580-8 hearts, 2GB of RAM or iGPU Mali-T720 MP2. With its 2900 mAh battery, we expected a correct score, he managed to do better, much better.

Our test protocol with the aim application, which mixes real uses like Web browsing, playing videos, listening to music, sending SMS or call (in Wi-Fi and 4G), is the first proof. The Galaxy A5 held no less than 5:53 p.m., almost four hours more than the Acer Liquid Z630, former champion of the category. Prosecutors accuse a delay of more than 20% for the best. Just under 18 hours on this protocol correspond to 2.5 days of standard use and best terminals leveled averaged 1.9 days.

We searched the fault, sometimes a problem in the protocol false results. We found nothing. Better, the video streaming playback test (screen at 200 cd / m², Wi-Fi) found his new master too. Thus the GA5 allowed us to see 5:45 p.m. our test series, almost a full season, on a single charge. This equates to a return flight Paris-New York without having to reload the terminal. The second smartphone in the exercise is the Motorola Moto X Force, which takes 1:36 p.m. in the same conditions. The Galaxy A5 is where 85% above the average for our comparison. Just that.

This Samsung is therefore facing our protocols without flinching, but what about facing heavy use? Three hours of daily transportation, with its share of change of motile cells (energy intensive), games and music. Several email accounts and social networks synchronized, SMS and some calls. Stressful days for a smartphone. Few people in those circumstances, beyond the morning of the second day. The Galaxy A5 allows to arrive at the end of the evening of the second day intensive. The standby continues to perform since night starts the battery only 3 to 5%.

Finally, if it is to overcome long endurance A5, recharging is done quickly. Fast Charge technology allows it to go from 0 to 100% in a little over an hour. He’s back for two days, or longer if you’re not a hard smartphone.

This performance is undoubtedly welcome very auspicious for Samsung. Korean advance 17 hours of video playback at maximum display brightness for its future Galaxy S7. Ads that do not seem so far-fetched if and suggests a 2016 under the banner of independence.
