Samsung has finally proceeded without fanfare but has managed to outdo his compatriot LG: South Korea has just announced via press release the imminent launch of its first smartphone with a curved screen, the Galaxy Round. His first feature, so it is the integration of an AMOLED screen of 5.7 inches with 1920 x 1080 pixels and offers a slight curve along the vertical axis.
Beyond technological innovation, one wonders course in the first place what are the contributions of this curved screen for the user? Samsung promises that more visual comfort and grip, it allows new ways to interact with the phone. South Korea illustrates this with a promise called Roll Effect function that displays on the screen the latest notifications by simply switch the phone for a few moments along the axis of the curve when it is placed on a table . Following the same logic, the music player or image viewer know how to change song or view the contents of an album when the user requests the camera with a slight wobble.
For the rest, the device adopts similar to those of the Galaxy Note 3 forms, with a back plastic imitation leather, a weight of 154 grams and its size 5.7 inches (14.48 cm). It embeds a battery of 2800 mAh its 7.9 mm thick and appears compatible with 4G / LTE networks. Comes with Android 4.3, the device is powered by a Snapdragon 800 to 2.3 GHz, with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage expandable by microSD. Finally, it is equipped with 802.11ac WiFi, a micro USB 3.0 connector and a 13 megapixel camera sensor.
The official launch will take place Thursday, October 10 in South Korea, at a suggested retail price of 1 million won , about 685 euros. No detail has so far been given as a possible launch internationally.
Samsung as LG this year launched their first curved OLED screens in the world of television and promised since this technology is quickly integrated into mobile phones.
