Samsung Galaxy Note 3: the ideal phablette? - Clubic

id=”editorial_594656″>

Galaxy Note 3 marks the return of Samsung on the market “phablettes” the Korean manufacturer has created, but which others came position. Equipped with a high-end processor and a 5.7-inch 1080p display, it means probably remember who is the champion of large size smartphones.

Can also still speak of “phablettes” while the boundaries between devices are increasingly blurred? The high-end smartphones now exceed 5 inches, and the recent LG G2, with a minimal size, features a 5.2-inch screen, is only slightly less than the first Galaxy Note

Samsung itself has contributed to the dilution with a Galaxy Mega size “record” 6.3 inches, further reducing the gap between smartphones and mini tablets, while Asus has squarely taken the plunge with a 7-inch Fonepad able to make phone calls.

It is in this context that leaves the Galaxy Note 3, a device that does not really UFO in the landscape of mobile telephony, but with some assets to mark its difference, including management of the stylus and software customizations that the manufacturer knew refine over time.

The design of the Galaxy Note is often predictable: it is an enlarged version of the Galaxy S the time. Like the Galaxy Note 2, in outline, a big Galaxy S3, and not surprisingly, the Galaxy Note 3 draws heavily on the Galaxy S4.

Unsurprisingly? Not quite, because Samsung “innovate” on Galaxy Note 3 with a back not in glossy plastic, but covered with a “soft touch” layer of imitation leather. The manufacturer has even pushed to reproduce the detail of false seams, which is a bit ridiculous, it must be admitted. Two advantages to this change, however: the back will no longer scratches and handling is improved sees

What about

however contour chrome and ribbed plastic? Frankly, we still prefer the pseudo brushed aluminum Galaxy S4. We still why Samsung persists with these contours that age well and give a “cheap” side at all, while for the rest demand, Note 3 is pretty well finished.

That’s our grievances but the design of Note 3 also reproduces the prowess Galaxy S4: offer a smartphone thinner, lighter and not with a larger 0.2-inch screen that wins over its predecessor

.

And when it comes to a device with a screen of 5.7 inches, it is a lessee of every millimeter that improves the ease of use in hand or pocket. For the latter, the format remains a challenge. Not much, of course, the Galaxy Mega, but having a Galaxy Note 3 in his pants is not the most pleasant. The gain in smoothness and especially weight is still significant. Only drawback of this optimization to the millimeter: the area including the touch keys are so small it can be easy to activate one of two by mistake

Who said said Galaxy Note S Pen-Pen. and if we continue to regret that Samsung does not offer an accessory a little more “premium” is like at least one detail: it is perfectly symmetrical and can now be stored in the 2-way

finish on! the connector with a small innovation: The Note 3 is the first smartphone in any case of Samsung, to be equipped with a Micro USB 3.0 connector. Larger than the Micro USB “classic”, it still includes the latter, which will recharge or connect the unit with a standard cable, of course losing the benefit of USB 3.0 throughput.
