Photo Comparison: Samsung Galaxy Nexus S7 facing 6P and … – Frandroid

With the arrival of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge on the market, a new comparative picture is needed. And we chose to oppose these two the Samsung Galaxy S6, since the photo sensor is supposed to evolve in relation to the latter and because it is one of the best cameraphone of 2015, but also that the Nexus 6P had proved very good student for photo, including night with its HDR + mode.

The Galaxy S7 has no more than a 16 megapixel sensor, but a sensor from Sony, the IMX260, 12 megapixels. The promise here is that of larger photosites (1.4 micrometres against 1.12 in the Galaxy S6), so to capture more light and deliver greater results in low light conditions . Everything is based on a Dual-Pixel technology that, unlike conventional AF with phase detection, mobilizes all the pixels (or rather their photodiodes) of the sensor, to achieve a tune too fast point precise. Great promise, coupled with an aperture of f / 1.7, a 26mm lens, an optical stabilization system and a dual LED flash.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 that is put here in comparison has a Sony IMX240 sensor of a size of 1 / 2.6 “and an aperture of f / 1.9. As for the Nexus 6P, its sensor (IMX 377, still from Sony) has a size of 1 / 2.3 “, an aperture of f / 2.0 and a focal length of 26mm. Unlike the S7 and S6, it does not have optical stabilization.

We made the choice to only use the HDR mode outside except at night, since the Nexus 6P shows a little weakness in classic mode. For the night landscape, macro and indoor, we have also chosen to use only one example picture.

Day Landscape

Since the Galaxy S7 is supposed to be better than its predecessor in low light conditions, if one asks the is also updated. And a priori give a definitive answer on this issue will not be an easy task. S7, S6 and Nexus 6P all three are very good, and we note only that the colors are slightly less bright with Samsung Mobile, which gives a more natural effect.

The first example Photo (above), the right wall seems slightly more informed, which must be due to the greater openness offered on the S7. Other examples photograph (below) seem to show the same trend, albeit slightly, and one even has the impression that the colors on the clichés of S7 are less severe than those of the S6.

So how does one decide the day? WB side, Samsung seems to have made big changes either. Or none.

The photo at right was made with the Galaxy S7, the left with the Galaxy S6, and the middle one with the Nexus 6P.

When we look at the definition of clichés, it can not effectively be disappointed by the Galaxy S7, the fault in its sensor as 12 megapixels. And compared to 16 megapixels of S6, there is a sense of losing quality. Especially when displays the photo in full size

Definition

.

When you zoom in to 100% photographs, there is even the S7 definition is much lower than that of the 6P (which is visible on the statues), although both have a sensor with the same definition. The Nexus has a somewhat steep dive, but you get a rendering less soft textures, and some colors are even erased.

Night Landscape

At night, the Galaxy S7 actually captures more light than its competitors of the day. And can therefore afford to stay open for less time (1/5 second for GS6 and 1/10 for GS7 and 6P). This produces a net income practical thing because it is not uncommon to miss night images.

In this gallery (above), the right picture is performed with the Galaxy S7, the middle with the S6 and left with the 6P.

macro

for the macroscopic picture, the picture is not very different from that which had been done during the comparative test between the 6P Nexus and the Galaxy S6. Again, it is clear that the S6 is more comfortable than the 6P with the development. The S7 is on his side at least as clever as the S6, with a focus faster and certainly more accurate hair. His biggest opening also provides blur background a little more pronounced him, although it remains light.

Indoor

inside, the difference will mainly be played at the white balance. Note that the S7 arrives to capture more light. And is generally more skilled in this exercise, although the white balance gets more yellow. Strangely, in inner light, the Nexus 6P that manages to produce a record of the closest ambient light of reality. However, this comes at the expense of too dark colors.

Fashion pro

the pro modes of Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7 are essentially the same, but there is a very significant novelty with the manual focus. To perform its development, the smartphone zoom into the image and allows high precision. As for the Nexus 6P, there is simply no pro natively mode, although it is compatible with the API Camera2 the same settings as on Samsung devices.

In the end, sensor of this Samsung Galaxy S7 is convincing, provided you are looking for a mobile comfortable with conditions of very low luminosity. As regards the rest, this smartphone does not show a real evolution in conventional conditions, and even loses definition. But for most users, who view their photos from their mobile, this is a very small argument.
