One of the best ways to test a smartphone is to travel with. The opportunity to experience the quality of the camera, applications and battery endurance. That is what we have done with the Galaxy S7 that we took in London and Berlin.
And the good news is that it is done very well. The S7 has never been found wanting either to take pictures or autonomy. For us, this is clearly the new reference point better than the excellent Nexus 6P and the iPhone 6s.
We started our test on the streets of London. The relatively compact size of this screen 5.1 inch stood well in our pockets of pants and jacket, which allowed us to release it at every opportunity to take a picture, watch the weather, pay for purchases or use of assisted navigation .
If the rounded edge and back bent facilitate handling, the S7 remains slippery surfaces with glasses and we still dropped once. We found him without a scratch, this solid S7.
We have spent a lot of time observing the design of this smartphone. Its appearance is much more elegant and thinner than the Galaxy S6 and if one pays attention to detail, we can even say that the quality is superior to that of other Galaxy models.
one of the defects due to the glass-metal finish of the casing is that it attracts fingerprints. The surface becomes quickly spotted a greasy film that we spend time cleaning in vain. This is not dramatic as it is quite likely that you protect your precious with a shell.

Whether in London or Berlin then we took tons of pictures. Although the definition of 12 megapixel sensor is smaller than that of the S6, it takes much better pictures. He especially wonders in low light conditions. The scenes are brighter, making the action easier to see. Under these conditions of low light, the S7 is better than the iPhone 6s, with photos that are more usable. However, we are less enthusiastic with the front camera of 5 megapixels which uses even more embellishment filters. We do not appreciate these devices which give skin a dull plastic. So we turned off all possible filters, but still self-portraits had made a missing natural. This is a personal opinion and in no case a crippling defect.
Finally, note that we used the flash system of the screen to illuminate our selfies in dark places. This assumes that the screen turns white just before taking the photo. Rather it was blinding and can not play on the brightness to mitigate it. The flash system for selfies iPhone 6s works better under the same conditions.
Less app duplicate, a more streamlined interface
A good Samsung point for which is restricted to the presence of applications to customize the use of Android 6.0. However, there are many advanced settings to set the theme, lock screen, but you just sink deeper into the menus to find them. The Game Launcher is another good idea. It allows you to take screenshots while you play or reduce the display to do something else. We fell in love with the function permanent display “Always on” that can see the time and date, image and the battery level when the smartphone is locked. It can even display two time zones, making it convenient for travel.
The perf ‘that ensure an autonomy that reassures
During our trips, the battery was our first concern as we spent long days to move without a charger or extra battery . But fortunately, the autonomy of the S7 has supported this problem without heavy use.
We put the S7 in our video loop test reading with the
Airplane mode enabled. It took 16 hours on three different tests,
which is the longest battery life we’ve seen on a
phone.
For comparison the iPhone 6s held this 10h5mn
same test. On a very intensive use, it will still provide for
recharge the phone once a day, but it is safe

The presence of a microSD memory card reader is great news. This means that one does not need to invest in a more expensive S7 for more storage. A micro SD card of 64 GB costs twenty euros and can store movies, photos, movies with less main memory. For larger content consumers, the S7 also supports 200GB of memory cards.
the watertight (IP68) is also good news. We refused to throw the S7 in the toilet to test, but it is certainly a substantial safety if it is used in bad weather or a joker thrown into the pool.

Conclusion
Galaxy S7 is available from 699 euros in 32 GB. It’s not cheap, but we think it’s worth. The S7 is clearly above the 2015 S6: beautiful design, numerous customization options, a powerful configuration, autonomy at the top and excellent skills for the photo. If your budget allows you to go up to 799 euros, then opt for S7 Edge, which offers in addition a more powerful battery and a 5.5 inch screen with curved edges.
Galaxy S7 is the new benchmark in the market, period.
